We are very excited to announce that the students and staff of Cong N.S are embarking on a new adventure. Following on from the success of the Green School Flag and Active School Flag Initiatives, we are now taking on the challenge of obtaining an Amber Flag which is awarded by Pieta House to schools for promoting positive mental health.

During the height of Covid, the school community were busy looking at wellbeing in our school as part of the School Self Evaluation process. Following on from this, we decided to participate in the Amber Flag initiative.

In order to promote positive mental health and wellbeing at Cong N.S, the whole school community has come together in order to create a safe, positive and healthy attitude towards our general physical and mental health and well-being. The students are very enthusiastic about this new school initiative and have shared many wonderful ideas. These are a number of the ideas generated;

• Create an Amber Flag notice board in the hall to showcase our collaborative art projects, details of upcoming events and photographs

• Wellbeing Week , planned for Spring ‘23

• Lámh word of the week

• Using parts of the Wellbeing Diary across all classes

• Holistic activities undertaken through the SPHE and PE strands of the curriculum

• Movement breaks

• Team building activities

• Feel good Friday discos!
