The infants enjoyed a fantastic bike day, learning the importance of wearing helmets, following bike safety rules and staying safe while having fun on their bikes and scooters. The weather was beautiful too!

The infants , 1st and 2nd class had a fantastic day at Turoe Pet Farm, enjoying the animals, playgrounds and bouncy castle. They had a great time with their friends!

The infants have been busy minding their tomato plants over the past few weeks. We re-potted them with the help of our friends in 5th class. The children were delighted to bring them home. Well done everyone!

Thank you to the team at Mc Graths who organised a road safety talk for the children. The highlight of the visit was getting the opportunity to climb into the truck cab, see the drivers view and develop an awareness of the drivers blind spots. It was a fun and memorable way to learn the importance of staying safe around large vehicles.

Our 5th and 6th Class pupils had a fantastic day on their school tour to Wildlands. The children took part in the exciting Celtic Challenge Rooms, where they worked together to solve puzzles, complete challenges, and put their teamwork skills to the test. 3rd & 4th class recently travelled to Wildlands Adventure Park in Moycullen for their school tour. They thoroughly enjoyed their day despite the rain. First up they completed the bushcraft activity in the woods learning how to start a fire, toast marshmallows and build a shelter in the wild. Teamwork skills were tested as pupils worked together to gather suitable materials before constructing and insulating their shelter. Next up was a round of disc golf before taking on the

Members of the Corrib Mask Search and Rescue team recently visited our school to talk about water safety on our local lakes and also to show us their ambulance jeep, rescue boat and equipment including a demonstration of how to manually inflate a life jacket. This was a great opportunity for our pupils to make connections with what they have learnt this year as part of their SPHE programme. We all enjoyed our Walk on Wednesday (WOW) for the month of May. Many thanks to McGraths Quarry for supplying new Hi-Vis Vests for all our pupils. This will help to keep the children safe and seen on their journey to school.

What a wonderful week of activity and fun! Our pupils embraced every challenge during Active Week and thoroughly enjoyed Sports Day. From races and games to teamwork and laughter, it was a fantastic opportunity to celebrate fitness, friendship and participation. The Junior and Senior Infants have been busy minding their tomato plants. The children are loving watching their plants grow and they are busy watering them everyday in our poly tunnel. A big ‘THANK YOU’ to Brenda for kindly donating the plants to our class. We are looking forward to watching them grow over the next few weeks!

Huge well done to all the boys and girls from Cong N.S. on their fantastic performance in the recent Cumann na mBunscol football tournament. They showed incredible teamwork, skill, determination and sportsmanship throughout. Every pupil should be so proud of the effort they put in and the way they represented their school. Well done to our pupils who won gold at the Mayo Community Games Chess Final a few weeks ago. They recently went to Sligo to take part in the Connacht Final where they played against the current All Ireland winners Leitrim. Unfortunately, it wasn’t their day but what an achievement to get there! Congratulations to you all!

Our 3rd & 4th class pupils recently performed with the Cross Border Orchestra of Ireland at the Peace Proms 2026 concert at the University of Limerick. The Peace Proms Initiative believe that music is a universal language- a powerful force of connection, healing, transformation and hope. We celebrated World Book Day by bringing in our favourite books to school and dressing up as our favourite characters. During Reading Buddies, senior pupils helped junior pupils explore new words, build confidence and discover the joy of storytelling.

The children enjoyed some delicious pancakes for Pancake Tuesday. A big THANK YOU to Deirdre, Aoibheann and the parents association for making this happen. The children were spoilt for choice with various toppings on offer. They were yummy, thumbs up all around!!!

Huge congratulations to our junior and senior quiz teams who both came 3 rd in their categories last Saturday at the Credit Union Schools Quiz 2026 which took place in the McWilliam Hotel, Claremorris. Both teams did an amazing job and we are all so proud of them!

Our 5th and 6th class pupils thoroughly enjoyed their recent Confirmation retreat day. They got to learn about the history of the Church while also learning about local folklore connected to the area. The children were given a guided tour of the abbey grounds aswell, which they found very interesting.
